Some sights from 2014.

Monday, June 2nd, 2014

In the continuum of my idling excitement I always try to graduate another time-wasting hobby with honors (and I will never have too much such).

Time to fanfaronade the braggadocio about the last one, so get a drink and click here.

Shooting on films is like inking on paper -- whatever the result is, you can only destroy it but not easily correct it, if it's not the intended one. (more…)

sanaa sa'eeda 1434

Vibrant smells and piquant colors splash before our senses just one hour after disembarkment in Marrakesh. Afternoon autumn light creates arabesques of long shadows on dusty soil and red walls. Palm trees stand still and act the role of a prompter, shall my eyes miss any shadow of color on bricky walls of the medina. Fresh espresso, colorful pottery and fabrics, tajine, Qur'ān texts everywhere, veiled barber women with aberrantly colorful exotic eyes -- that's Morocco as I witnessed.

Meet the Nature

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

Sand in my shoes

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

When I said once "season's just an attitude", I must admit I still had some reasons to polish to fully subscribe to that statement. Few weeks ago I decided to practically check how would it feel to practice summering, but in November. (more…)

Summer 2011

Saturday, October 8th, 2011
Though we're still spending evenings in Varna beach bars, pampering ourselves with summer cocktails and summer talks, it is more than evident -- the season's over. What's left is to enjoy the sweet tiredness from the endless nights and the memories embossed in our half-sober-half-high minds.

The summer still has some pulse!

Sunday, September 25th, 2011
When my sight was magnited today by this view, I felt like i just found a bonus track on a new CD -- the season is still not very over. So we shared dry suits, sails, boards and 2 hours of 7 m/s gusty wind with other surfers on the empty Asparuhovo beach.
Nothing gives me sense of summer like the sunset-colored surf sail...
So I plan to postpone the "RIP Summer" post with another week, or so.

Surfing lessons for life

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011
Few things I learnt in life from my recent windsurfing lessons:
1. If you wanna get good, you gotta get wet. Windsurfing, just like lifesurfing requires you to get wet, no matter the fluid -- seawater, tearswater, or my-precious-body-fluids-water. No other way! If you are not ready to get out of your comfort zone, you will remain mediocre border forever.
2. If you do not keep the mast close to your body, the wind "steals" the sail from you. And the wind steals a lot of things.

My office has no A/C...

Monday, October 4th, 2010

That's how my humble office looked like on Saturday morning. No doubt it's very tricky to concentrate on figures and processes, when easy-minded fishermen are the only working people you may see...

And yes, this is a grapefruit juice, zero-vodka-grapefruit-juice. I know, I should be reading more Hemingway...

Last windsurfer of the season?

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Hardly. But at least the last one without a dry suit.

Seeing a windsurfer from my balcony today remembered me a similar view early this spring, when another sail in Varna bay was a true mood setter and induced alluring perspectives for the coming summer. (more…)

Midlife crisis countdown

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Just 2 more to go!

If I let myself believe that after 40 I'll be officially a mid-age man, having perfectly legitimate right to benefit from all mid life crisis perks (like sport convertible, 50-feet sailing yacht, personal golf trainer, goofy Lacoste t-shirt, you name it...), today the countdown started! And the thrill to commit new adventures is already itching on my spine. (more…)

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

(more…)

Note to self

Dear Self--

When trying to keep amused by contemplating in this blog, do not forget that:

1. If you set your ego too loose it will flourish as a bad smelling fungus and will poison with its odor your otherwise harmless word plates; (more…)
